Vegetarian Protein

I’m not a vegetarian.  I eat chicken and get mean cravings for carne asada tacos with all the fixings.  I don’t eat meat a lot though, probably only two or three times a week, so it’s important that I’m getting protein elsewhere.

There are a lot of reasons not to eat meat.

  1. It’s expensive.
  2. Meat (and dairy) has a protein called casein in it, which has been linked to cancer.
  3. It must be cooked.

One of the biggest problems with a vegetarian diet is that vegetarians turn into “carbatarians” very quickly.  Protein is essential in making a body feel full, building muscle, and of course to maintain proper nutrition.

Some great sources for vegetarian protein are as follows:

  1. Almonds
  2. Hummus
  3. Greek yogurt
  4. Black beans
  5. Lentils
  6. Tofu
  7. Eggs
  8. Avocados
