I’m not a vegetarian. I eat chicken and get mean cravings for carne asada tacos with all the fixings. I don’t eat meat a lot though, probably only two or three times a week, so it’s important that I’m getting protein elsewhere.
There are a lot of reasons not to eat meat.
- It’s expensive.
- Meat (and dairy) has a protein called casein in it, which has been linked to cancer.
- It must be cooked.
One of the biggest problems with a vegetarian diet is that vegetarians turn into “carbatarians” very quickly. Protein is essential in making a body feel full, building muscle, and of course to maintain proper nutrition.
Some great sources for vegetarian protein are as follows:
- Greek yogurt
- Black beans
Could you go without meat? Which source of vegetarian protein is your favorite?
