The 80/20 Rule
Have you ever heard of the 80/20 rule? It’s a pretty basic concept. If we eat/do what we’re supposed to be eating/doing eighty percent of the time, the other twenty percent of the time won’t matter. Victoria Secret’s model Miranda Kerr is a huge supporter of the 80/20 rule, and you can tell by her flawless physique it’s working for her.
There’s a little bit more to it than that, and we can take the basics of the principle in several different ways depending on our backgrounds and focus. Try experimenting with different takes on the principle.
- When we eat, we should only let our stomachs become 80% full, and leave 20% empty for better digestion.
- When we make our plate, 80% of the food should be natural, organic fruits and veggies, and 20% should be lean protein.
The 80/20 Principle can help us majorly in our progress towards a healthier lifestyle. It means that we don’t have to be perfect 100% of the time. It allows us to stop obsessing, and when we mess up a little bit and eat that delicious piece of chocolate, we can know it’s not the end of the world.
